TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP NOTES
By earning both the men's and women's MVC outdoor team championships, the Panthers:

  • Became the first program in Valley history to sweep all four conference track and field titles (women's indoor, men's indoor, women's outdoor and men's outdoor) in the same season
  • Secured the first women's outdoor conference title in school history
  • Earned a sweep of the indoor and outdoor MVC men's titles for the fifth time, including four times since 2000
  • Became the fifth team in MVC history to win both the men's and women's outdoor titles in the same season, and the first since Wichita State in 2004.

With their women's team championship, UNI snapped a run of four consecutive Valley outdoor titles won by Wichita State (2004-2007).

The Panthers' men's team championship is the sixth outdoor MVC men's title since UNI joined the league in 1992.

UNI has won three of the last four MVC outdoor men's titles (2008, 2007, 2005), along with a record nine straight indoor men's championships (2000-2008).

The Panthers have won a total of 20 MVC track and field team titles since 1992, including 16 since 2000.

INDIVIDUAL NOTES
A victory by Beau Morris of Wichita State in the men's pole vault snapped the Panthers' run of three consecutive Valley outdoor titles in the event. Morris took the title in a jump-off after both he and UNI's Phil Hanson finished with a best clearance of 17-0 3/4.

With his sweep of the MVC outdoor coach of the year honors, UNI head coach Chris Bucknam has now earned a total of 24 Valley Coach of the Year awards since the Panthers joined the league in 1992.
