CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – University of Northern Iowa seniors Mat Clark and Ryan Grenko were both named to ESPN The Magazine All-America Men’s Track and Field/Cross Country team. Clark earned a place on the first team while Grenko was named to the second team.

 

Clark recorded a grade point average of 3.69 in biology. The three-time All-American finished in ninth place at the NCAA Championships last week in the decathlon, the highest finish of his career. In 2008, the Ames, Iowa native earned All-America honors  in the indoor heptathlon and also in the outdoor decathlon.

 

Clark also earned first team ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America honors in 2008.

 

Grenko, also a three-time All-American, landed a spot on the second team, wrapping up his career with the Panthers with a GPA of 3.61 in physical education. The Iowa City, Iowa native was a member of the Panthers 4x400 meter relay team that finished 12th at the NCAA Championships last weekend in Fayetteville, Ark. Grenko earned All-America honors in 2007 and 2008 as member of the Panthers 4x400 meter relay team.


 

 

 

The teams were selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), in voting by the organization’s membership.
