Cedar Falls, Iowa - University of Northern Iowa junior Mat Clark has been named to the ESPN The Magazine First Team Academic All-America Men's Track and Field/Cross Country team.

Clark holds a 3.73 cumulative grade point average, majoring in biology. He earned All-America honors at this year's NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in the decathlon, held June 11-14 at Drake Stadium in Des Moines, Iowa. He was also an All-American in the heptathlon at this year's NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships, held in March. Clark becomes the first UNI track and field athlete to earn Academic All-America honors since Dirk Homewood was also a first team selection in 2005.

The team was selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), in voting by the organization's membership.
