Mulder Advances to Semifinals at USA Track and Field Championships

EUGENE, Ore. – Senior Tyler Mulder advanced to the semifinal round of the 800 meter run Thursday evening at the 2009 USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Eugene, Ore. Mulder, who finished third at the 2009 NCAA Outdoor Championships, clocked in at 1:48.17.
Christian Smith, who competes for Nike, clocked in the fastest 800 meter time, crossing in 1:47.84.
Senior Mat Clark sits in 11th place in the men’s decathlon through the first five events, racking up 3,783 points.
Nike’s Trey Hardee leads the decathlon pack with 4,337 points.
Senior Terrance Reid just missed making the semifinal round in the men’s 400 meter dash, clocking in at 46.96.
Nike’s Jamaal Torrence clocked in the fastest first round time, finishing in 45.94.
The USA Championships are comprised of the United State’s best track and field athletes as they vie for the opportunity to represent Team USA this August at the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) World Championships in Berlin, Germany. The top three finishes in event will earn the honor to represent Team USA.
