Panther Cross Country Compete at Lakefront Invitational

Chicago, Ill. - The men's and women's cross country team traveled to Chicago, Ill. this past Saturday (Oct. 2) to compete in one of the top meets in the country, the Lakefront Invitational, hosted by Loyola University. More than 50 teams from across the nation competed in the event. Overall, the men managed a 22nd-place finish amongst the tough competition, while the women faired a little better, placing 16th. For the men, sophomore Dylan Davis (Adel, Iowa/Adel-De Soto-Minburn) once again led his team as the first Panther to cross the finish line. Davis finished 19th with his 25:14 time in the 8K race. Jon Lamb followed behind Davis, finishing 132nd for his 27:04 performance, while Scott Jedlicka managed 146th in 27:16 and Nathan White (Des Moines, Iowa/Southeast Polk) captured 162nd (27:28). Newcomer Mike Clancy (Iowa City, Iowa/West) finished the race in 27:29, placing 165th and Derrick Kresser and Andy Schon (Waukon, Iowa/Waukon) finished the race for the Panthers, with Kresser in 205th (28:19) and Schon in 223rd (29:04). On the women's side, Quinn Vermie (Runnels, Iowa/Southeast Polk) finished at the top of the Panther pack in 46th place, running the 5K race in 18:30. Freshman Traci Hawley (Ames, Iowa/Ames) followed in 55th place (18:45) and junior Randi Burns (Strawberry Point, Iowa/Starmont) ended the race in 19:02, placing herself 83rd. Shayla Houlihan (Sioux City, Iowa/East) captured 133rd place for her 19:52 performance, and Staci Ruebel (Waverly, Iowa/Waverly-Shell Rock) rounded out the race in 141st for her 20:02 time.
