Second Season

Scott Brickman is in his second season as an assistant coach with the UNI baseball program. Brickman, who pitched for UNI from 1994-98, is responsible for working with the Panthers' pitching staff.

In his first season with the Panthers, Brickman helped UNI reach the 30-win mark for just the fourth time in program history. The staff's 4.75 ERA was the fourth-lowest since moving to Division I in 1981. Two pitchers earned all-conference honors, and Guido Fonseca and Taylor Sinclair were each signed by major league organizations. Joe Gonzalez notched nine saves, ranking second in the career record books for saves in a season and in a career. Nick Kirk threw the school's first no-hitter in 15 years when he struck out 15 and gave up just one walk and one error against Evansville.

Brickman returned to his alma mater after spending five seasons as an assistant at Wofford College. He coached two Freshman All-American pitchers, and helped the Terriers win the 2007 Southern Conference Championship to advance to the NCAA Tournament. Brickman also served as the head coach of the Florence Redwolves, a summer collegiate team in Florence, S.C., in 2004-05. The 2005 team advanced to the Coastal Plains League championship game, and set the franchise record with 30 regular-season and 33 overall wins. Twelve of his players were drafted or signed by MLB teams, including one 2006 first-round pick.

From 2000-02 he worked as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator for Muscatine Community College. In his tenure, he saw three pitchers and a total of 15 players earn all-region honors, and four of his players were selected in the MLB draft.

Before going to Muscatine, he worked from 1998-99 as an assistant at Wartburg College, helping the Knights win the Iowa Conference and qualify for the 1999 NCAA Tournament.

Before moving to the college ranks, Brickman spent two summers coaching at the junior high and high school levels.

As a pitcher for the Panthers, Brickman helped UNI earn a second-place finish in the Missouri Valley Conference in 1997, and he was tabbed MVC Pitcher of the Week twice during that season.

A native of Denver, Iowa, Brickman earned his bachelor's degree in general studies from UNI in 1998.
