Manrique tripled off the center field wall in the bottom half of the inning, and Hoffmann sacrificed to deep center field to bring Manrique across the plate and tie the game, 4-4.

Indiana State strung together four straight hits before collecting an out, scoring two in the process and building a 6-4 lead. Guido Fonseca came in relief with one out and two on, and Martin hit into a 4-6-3 double play to end the inning.

Indiana State put runners on second and third with one out in the top of the sixth, but a slow grounder to first recorded the second out and Fonseca struck out Martin to end the inning.

In the top of the seventh, Bond walked and Abercrombie reached on a fielder's choice. Both runners advanced on a ground out, and a single into right by Brugamin scored both runs and put ISU in front 12-5. Brugamin and Nick Ciolli scored on a single by Strausborger to give the Sycamores a 14-5 lead at the end of seven.

Bond led off the top of the eighth with a single, and Abercrombie doubled to bring him home and give ISU a 10-run advantage, 15-5.

Ballesteros hit a solo home run in the bottom of eighth to bring the score to 15-6 and avoid ending the game due to the league's 10-run rule.

Jeremy Weih led off the bottom of the ninth with a double, and Manrique followed with a double. Hoffmann reached on an error, scoring Weih and moving Manrique to third. Douglas drew a full-count walk to load the bases with nobody out. Embury singled up the middle to score Manrique, making the score 15-8. Nick Cameron hit a bases-loaded double down the left-field line to score two, cutting the UNI deficit to 15-10. Ballesteros hit a single up the middle to score Embury, and Hendrix followed with a single through the left side to score Cameron. With one out, Manrique grounded out, scoring one and bringing Hoffmann to the plate representing the go-ahead run. A ground out cut the Panther rally short an ended the game.
