Box Score

Peoria, Ill. -

A one-hit, shutout performance by lefty Aaron Jenkins (Brooklyn Park, Minn.) on the mound helped UNI defeat Bradley 10-0 in seven innings this afternoon. Sophomore Brett Douglas (St. Charles, Iowa) also went 4-for-4 at the plate, tallying four RBI.

This marks the first time UNI has inflicted the ten-run rule on an opponent since last season's Friday-night opener against the Braves.

Junior Nick Cameron (West Des Moines, Iowa) sent a three-run homer over the left field wall in the top of the first, his third home run of the season, giving UNI a 4-0 lead. Prior to his at-bat, sophomore Curt Bradley (Columbia, Mo.) was escorted home on a Brett Douglas single to right center and for the second consecutive day UNI took runs from the Braves in the first inning.

A lead-off single to right field by sophomore Jason Smith (Sioux Falls, S.D.) sparked two Panther runs in the top of the fifth. Two singles by Bradley and Brandon Douglas (St. Charles, Iowa) then loaded the bases and a strikeout later, Brett Douglas drove home two with a two-out single through the left side.

Bradley threatened in the sixth inning as Jenkins fanned three batters to load the bases, but then he served up a pop-up to get out of the inning.

Brett Douglas plated another run with a hit to left center and senior Pat Moran (Rapid City, S.D.) drove home two runners with a single in the seventh.  Junior Eric Hoffmann (Erskine, Minn.) sealed UNI's victory, slicing a hard ball past the Braves' first baseman to score Moran from second base and give UNI the 10-0 lead.

Jenkins struck out seven in his first career complete game shutout and guided UNI to four 1-2-3 defensive frames. Curt Bradley went 3-for-4 with two runs scored, Cameron tallied a career-high three RBI and Brett Douglas had a career-best four hits.

UNI is now 23-24, 7-11 in the MVC.  It faces No. 3 Nebraska Wednesday (5/10) and Wichita State Friday-Sunday (5/12-14) on the road.
