TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Gabe Moore scored 21 points, hitting six three-pointers in the process, to lead Indiana State to a 59-46 win over the University of Northern Iowa Monday night at the Hulman Center. ISU improved to 12-11 overall, 5-8 in the Missouri Valley Conference, while UNI fell to 16-8, 7-6.
Moore missed his first two three-pointers of the game, but was 6-of-8 from behind the arc after that. He made six of the team's eight treys on the evening, as the Sycamores hit 8-of-19 as a team. The Panthers struggled from behind the arc, shooting just 4-of-22 for the game. UNI was led by Jared Josten (Webster City, Iowa) and Brooks McKowen (Fairbank, Iowa), who each scored 11 points. The Panthers, whose 46 points were a season low, were a season low 2-of-5 at the free throw line.
UNI got off to a strong start, scoring the game's first 10 points, and held Indiana State scoreless for the first eight minutes of the game. But a Moore trey got ISU on the board, and that started a 17-4 Sycamore run over the next five minutes, culminated by another Moore triple to make the score 17-14 in ISU's favor. Jordan Eglseder (Bellevue, Iowa) gave UNI a spark with six first half points, but the Sycamores took a 27-21 lead into the locker room.

The Panthers opened the second half strong, pulling within two (34-32) after a pull-up jumper from Josten. But after UNI missed on its next possession with a chance to tie, Moore hit another three to put ISU back up by five. A Coleman hook shot got UNI within three at 44-41 with 9:13 left, but that was as close as the Panthers would get. The Sycamores hit threes on their next two possessions, starting an 11-0 run over the next four minutes that effectively sealed the game. UNI scored just two field goals over the final 10 minutes of the contest.
The Panthers return home for the first of two straight home games, facing intrastate rival Drake on Thursday (Feb. 8) at the McLeod Center. Tipoff is 7:05 p.m.
