CARBONDALE, Ill. (AP) - Matt Shaw scored 16 points to lead Southern Illinois to a 46-45 win over No. 25 Northern Iowa on Saturday.

The Salukis (19-10, 12-6 Missouri Valley) led 24-20 at halftime despite shooting 35 percent from the field in the first half. They didn't improve their shooting in the second half but managed to hold off Northern Iowa. Jamaal Tatum added 11 points for Southern Illinois.

Grant Stout led Northern Iowa with 16 points and eight rebounds. But the Panthers (22-8, 11-7) committed nine costly first-half turnovers and shot 11 percent from 3-point range. Ben Jacobson added 14 points.
