CEDAR FALLS, Iowa - The University of Northern Iowa men's basketball squad scored a 69-56 non-conference victory over South Dakota State on Friday night in the McLeod Center behind the play of four double-digit scorers.

The Panthers' attacked was paced by junior Eric Coleman's 16-point, 7-rebound, 4-assist , 2-block effort. Coleman was 5-of-10 from the field and 6-of-9 from the free throw line. Coleman was joined in double figures by senior Grant Stout (11 points), junior Adam Viet (10 points) and senior Brooks McKowen (10 points). McKown also dished out a game-high seven assists.

The Jackrabbits hung right with the Panthers and trailed by a single point at 38-37 with 13:11 to go in the game. But the Panthers used a 13-2 run to surge past the Jacks and take a 51-39 lead. The run was keyed by a pair of Kwadzo Ahelegbe three-pointers, and Viet ended the run with a triple to put the the Panthers up 12 with 9:49 left in the contest.

UNI shot 37.9 percent from the field but enjoyed a large margin at the foul line. UNI outscored SDSU, 18-2, at the charity stripe. UNI attempted 25 free throws to only six for SDSU.

The Jackrabbits' were led by guard Matt Cadwell. Cadwell tossed in a game-high 25 points on 11-of-20 shooting, including a trio of three pointers. No other Jackrabbit reached double figures in scoring.

The Panthers will be in action on Wed., Nov. 29, when the Iowa State Cyclones come to the UNI-Dome. The game will tip at 7:05 p.m. and will be broadcast by KFXA-TV and KDSM-TV. The contest can also be heard on the UNI Sports Network.
