Ahelegbe, Farokhmanesh Part of Basketball Tour to ChinaMay 27, 2009
Cedar Falls, Iowa - A pair of University of Northern Iowa players are representing UNI as they play men's basketball as part of a touring team in China this summer. Panther rising junior guard Kwadzo Ahelegbe and rising senior guard Ali Farokhmanesh are part of a team playing an exhibition basketball tour during late May and early June. The trip is a part of Sports Reach ministry. Through the tour's first three games, Ahelegbe is averaging 6.7 points and 5.8 assists per game. The 6-2 native of Oakdale, Minn., scored nine points and dished out six assists in the team's first game of the trip, when Reach USA posted a 118-100 win over the Jilkin Northeast Tigers. Farokhmanesh is also averaging 6.7 points per game, while averaging 4.8 assists per contest. The 6-0 shooting guard scored 11 points, inclduing draining three three-pointers, in Reach USA's 118-100 win against Jilkin Northeast. So far, Reach USA is 2-1 on the tour. The team is scheduled to play a total of seven games on the trip before returning home next week.
