In scoring its first win over Iowa State since 1994, UNI improved its record against teams from the Football Bowl Subdivision (formerly Division I-A) to 9-15 since 1985.

The Panthers boosted their overall record against non-conference opponents since 1985 to 99-45 and extended their streak of consecutive seasons with at least two non-conference wins to 23. UNI is the only original member of the Gateway Conference to claim at least two non-conference wins in each season since the league began play in 1985.

Corey Lewis put together the seventh 100-yard game of his career, rushing for 130 yards on 19 carries against the Cyclones. Lewis also caught four passes for 44 yards.

Brannon Carter's interception of a Bret Meyer pass on the Cyclones' opening drive was the second of the senior linebacker's career. Carter returned the pick 31 yards to set up UNI's first drive inside Iowa State territory.

The Panthers scored on their opening drive for the second consecutive week, with kicker Billy Hallgren connecting on a 31-yard field goal to give UNI an early 3-0 lead. UNI also scored on its first possession against Minnesota State-Mankato (Aug. 30), with Eric Sanders connecting with Darian Williams on a 4-yard touchdown pass.

UNI allowed its first quarterback sack of the season when senior Eric Sanders was dropped for a 10-yard loss late in the second quarter.

Tight end Austin Howard made his first career catch in the third quarter, taking a 7-yard pass from quarterback Eric Sanders on the Panthers' first play of the second half.

For the second consecutive year, the Panthers and Cyclones played in front of a record crowd at Jack Trice Stadium. The throng of 56,795 fans eclipsed Iowa State's previous attendance mark of 55,518 -- set last season when UNI faced off against the Cyclones (Sept. 30, 2006). It is the fourth-largest crowd ever to see a UNI football game, with the Panthers' all-time record coming at Iowa on Sept. 17, 2005 -- a crowd 70,585 at Kinnick Stadium.

UNI's captains for the game were seniors Jordan Lacy, Chad Reinhart and Eric Sanders.
