Head Coach Mark Farley Quotes

How the team played...
"I was proud of how (the team) played. We're a good football team. It came down to the last play. I thought (the players) represented this University as well as any team. It's too bad it ended on the short side."

How the defense played...
"That's what's so irritating. I thought we played well on defense. But we had some missed tackles. There was a lot of second effort on both sides of the field. That's what made it such a great game."

< The play of backup quarterback Eric Sanders...
"Sanders gave us a shot to win. He had no chance to warm up and it came down to him playing against the no. 1-ranked team in the country on the road. It was a gutsy performance."

The 1-3 start...
"We're now in a must-win situation. We're about three plays from being the no. 1 team in the country (after playing Stephen F. Austin and Southern Illinois) to being 1-3. We'll need to circle the wagons. It's us against the world."

< Losing Tom Petrie...
"Tom is a huge loss. His injury might have lost us the football game. He wanted to finish the drive with a bone sticking out. That puts winning and losing in perspective when you lose a good kid."
