A trio of University of Northern Iowa football players have earned preseason All-America honors and the Panthers were ranked No.4 among FCS schools in Lindy's 2009 college football preview magazine.

Senior defensive end James Ruffin (Burnsville, Minn.) and senior offensive tackle Austin Howard (Davenport, Iowa) were named to the first team. Senior center Austin Steichen (Remsen, Iowa) earned second-team preseason honors.

UNI will begin the 2009 season against the Iowa Hawkeyes in Iowa City at Kinnick Stadium Sept. 5.
