The University of Northern Iowa department of athletics announced today an agreement for KXNO (1460-AM) radio to become an affiliate on the UNI Sports Network for the 2008 football season.

"It is certainly great news to have a sports radio station as strong as KXNO as the voice of the Panthers in central Iowa," UNI Director of Athletics Troy Dannen said. "This opportunity is significant to the University of Northern Iowa and to Panther fans and alumni as they all continue to support Panther athletics."

"We are thrilled to have Northern Iowa Football on KXNO in Des Moines," said Joel McCrea, V.P./Market Manager for Clear Channel Radio Des Moines/Ames. "Troy Dannen and his staff made sure that we could not say no to this deal. The addition of Learfield Sports to the UNI Marketing mix was also a big factor in our decision. We have a long, good relationship with Learfield and the other two state universities. We are excited to have Gary Rima and Scott Peterson on KXNO, their personalities match KXNO's personality very well."

The UNI football season will get underway when the Panthers take on the No. 16-ranked Brigham Young University Cougars on Aug. 30 at 5 p.m. (Central).
