Corey Lewis Named Preseason First-Team All-American by The Sports Network
PHILADELPHIA, Pa. (Sports Network) - University of Northern Iowa senior running back Corey Lewis (St. Paul, Neb.) has been named to the preseason first-team All-America squad by The Sports Network. Senior defensive lineman Mark Huygens (Sergeant Bluff, Iowa) was named to the second team, while senior wide receiver Johnny Gray (Deerfield Beach, Iowa) earned a spot on the third team. UNI was one of five schools with a trio of players named the preseason All-America squads. The Colonial Athletic Association grabbed 12 spots and the Missouri Valley Football Conference (formerly the Gateway) added 10. A total of 28 members of the 2007 postseason All-America squad was selected to the preseason team, including Armanti Edwards, the quarterback of three-rime defending national champion Appalachian State and his teammate, linebacker Pierre Banks.
Two Buchanan Award candidates from 2007, Montana State linebacker Bobby Daly and Nicholls State safety Lardarius Webb were first-team selections. THE SPORTS NETWORK 2008 PRESEASON ALL-AMERICA OFFENSE
