The University of Northern Iowa men’s golf team finished in 11^th place at the season-opening Jackrabbit Invitational in Primm, Nev. The Panthers recorded a team score of 303 over the final 18 holes to finish at 310-303-303--916.

Senior Tyler Johnson and freshman Yarri Bryn led the Panthers, finishing in a tie for 40^th place in the individual standings. Johnson shot a final-round 76 and Bryn shot a 77 for both to finish at 14-over par 230 for the tournament.

All five Panther golfers finished within three strokes of one another. Matt Sargent finished at 232, and Kyle Bermel and Jared Doerfler finished at 233. Doerfler fired a final-round 74 for the Panthers’ low round of the day.

The University of Nebraska captured the team title by 15 strokes after posting a tournament-low team round of 279 in the third round. Brandon Crick of Nebraska took individual medalist honors by five strokes with a 69-70-68--207 (-9) card.

UNI will tee off at the Desert Shootout in Goodyear, Ariz., this Thurs., Mar. 18, for its second tournament of the season.
