The University of Northern Iowa men’s golf team finished 11th at the Branson Creek Invitational, which concluded this afternoon at Branson Creek Golf Club.  After teams played 27 holes yesterday, the tournament concluded with nine more holes today.  The event was shortened from 54 to 36 holes due to weather.

 

UNI shot a 317 in its final 18 holes of action, to finish with a 36-hole score of 638.  Western Illinois carded a 600 to win the tournament, finishing eight shots ahead of second-place Arkansas-Little Rock.

 

UNI’s Troy Hoffman and Tyler Johnson each carded 77 in the second round.  Hoffman was UNI’s top finisher overall, tying for 24th with a 156, while Johnson tied for 34th with a 158 total.  Kyle Bermel tied for 40th with a 159.  Brandon Crick of Nebraska was the tournament’s medalist after shooting 74-73—147.

 

UNI is next in action Apr. 13-14 at the UMB Bank-Mizzou Intercollegiate in Columbia, Mo.
