St. Louis, Mo. - Junior Tyler Johnson (Belle Plaine, Iowa) was honored by being named honorable mention 2009 Missouri Valley Conference Men's Golf Scholar-Athlete, the league office announced today.

Johnson holds a 3.21 cumulative grade point average in Business Administration. He played in seven tournaments for the Panthers, with a team-best 75.2 stroke average in 20 rounds. He finished 10th at the State Farm MVC Championship, his best finish of the year, including carding a final round 69.

To be eligible for MVC scholar-athlete honors, nominees must have at least a 3.00 cumulative GPA, reached sophomore athletic and academic status, and played in at least 50 percent of the team's rounds or played at the State Farm MVC Championship.
