Cedar Falls, Iowa - The UNI Invitational concluded today (Saturday, Jan. 29) with three UNI-Dome records broken.

Josh Norman, competing unattached, set the new 60-meter dash UNI-Dome record with his 6.64 time, while Missouri's Neville Miller captured the 1000 meter record with his 2:26.14 time. Shani Marks was the sole woman to break a Dome record with her 44- 1/2 leap in the triple jump.

For the Panthers, freshman Raven Cepeda (Beloit, Wis./Beloit) finished the Gold division of the men's heptathlon in second place with his provisionally qualifying 5330 point total. Cody Eichmeier (Ackley, Iowa/AGSWR) was another athlete in the purple and gold to provisionally qualify himself, leaping 24-6 1/2 in the long jump to place him second. Jarno Kivioja (Porvoo, Finland/Makelanrinteen Lukio) was the last Panther with a provisionally qualifying mark, cleaing 17-3/4 in the pole vault. Kivioja finished second behind former UNI all-American Jacob Pauli.
 

 

Dirk Homewood (Cedar Falls, Iowa/Cedar Falls) was the only Panther to win an event, capturing first place in the 200 meters with a 21.83 time. Patrick Hunter (Racine, Wis./Washington Park) finished fourth in the 200 meters (22.05) and second in the 60-meter dash in 6.75.

Senior Jon Drury (Clarion, Iowa/Clairon-Goldfield) captured third place in the 60-meter hurdles for his 8.28 performance and Chris Lawson (Ankeny, Iowa/Ankeny) placed second in the 3K with a 8:58.83 time.

The Panthers will be back in action on their home turf next weekend at the Panther Classic in the UNI-Dome. Multi-events will begin Friday (Feb. 4) at 3:00p.m. and Saturday's events are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Feb. 5.
