Cedar Falls, Iowa - It was a big day for the UNI track and field teams as they hosted the UNI-Dome Open today (Friday, Feb. 18). The Panthers recorded 13 first-place finishes, provisionally qualified in three events and broke another UNI school record.

On the men's side, senior Derrick Benner won the men's weight throw with his provisionally qualifying mark of 63-00. Two-time all-American Dirk Homewood also provisionally qualified, winning the 400 meters in 47.45. Jarno Kivioja was the third to provisionally qualify, clearing 17-5 in the pole vault, a personal best.

Cody Eichmeier captured first place in the 200 meters, clocking in at 21.63. Mark Harris (Toronto, Canada/Birchmount Park), Adam Hinders (Waverly, Iowa/Waverly-Shell Rock), Alex Alva (London, Ontario/Regina Mundi) and Dylan Davis (Adel, Iowa/Adel-DeSoto-Minburn) capped off the night with their first place finish in the 4x400 meter relay. The team crossed the finish line in 3:17.53.
