Sarah Becker and Jelena Petrovic of Wichita State; Jordan Fife of Indiana State and Andre Poljanec of Northern Iowa are this week's Missouri Valley Conference Track and Field Athletes of the Week.

Becker, a junior from Tulsa, Okla. ran a 10:26.92 in the 3,000 meter steeplechase this past weekend at the Drake Relays, coming in third. She broke a school record in the event, as well as a Valley record, by over 11 seconds. Her time currently ranks in the top-20 in the nation.

Petrovic, a junior from Serbia, jumped 20-5 1/4 to finish second in the long jump at the UMKC Invitational. The mark improved her already Valley leading distance by nearly five inches, and leads the Valley in the event by seven inches. The jump was also a regional-qualifying mark.

Fife won the 3,000 meter steeplechase at the Drake Relays with a time of 9:01.29. His mark set a new school record as well as posted the best Valley mark in that event this season. He also regionally qualified.

Poljanec of UNI captured fourth place at the Drake Relays, clearing 17-6 1/2, the best height to date in the Valley. The mark qualified the newcomer for regionals by nearly one foot.
