The University of Northern Iowa will have a total of six entries at the 2005 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships, to be held in Sacramento, Calif., June 8-11.

Late yesterday (May 31), the NCAA announced the meet's at-large qualifiers, and UNI received two bids: Cody Eichmeier (Ackley, Iowa) in the long jump, and the Panthers' 4x100 relay team of Jamie Goodwin (McKeesport, Pa.), Eichmeier, Dirk Homewood (Cedar Falls, Iowa), and Patrick Hunter (Racine, Wis.).

The Panthers had four automatic qualifiers at the NCAA Midwest Regionals May 27-28 - Homewood in the 400 meters; Jarno Kivioja (Porvoo, Finland) in the pole vault; Yuriy Litvinski (Sliven, Bulgaria) in the triple jump and its 4x400 relay team of Ryan Kedley (Lowden, Iowa), Brent Dahlstrom (Cedar Falls, Iowa), Terrence Reid (Davenport, Iowa) and Homewood.

The Panthers' 4x100 relay starts off action for UNI's competitors on Wednesday, June 8, with the preliminaries of that event at 3:45 p.m. Also on June 8, Eichmeier sees action with long jump qualifying at 4:30 p.m., and Kivioja competes in pole vault qualifying at 6:00 p.m. Homewood is in the 400 meter prelims at 6:10 p.m.
 

 

On Thursday, June 9, the finals of the long jump will be held at 7:00 p.m., as well as the preliminaries of the 4x400 relay at 8:40.

Friday, June 10 sees Litvinski compete in triple jump qualifying at 5:00 p.m. In addition, the finals of both the pole vault and 4x100 relay will be held at 6:30 p.m.

The meet's final day, Saturday, June 11, sees the finals of the 400 meters at 6:00 p.m., followed by the finals of the triple jump at 6:30 p.m., and the 4x400 relay finals at 8:35 p.m.
