Lucas Solum (ATC, LAT) is in his second year as a graduate assistant athletic trainer for the UNI wrestling team, and will earn his master's degree in athletic training from the UNI Health, Physical Education & Leisure Services (HPLES) in May 2008.

The Milwaukee, Wis., native earned his bachelor's degree in athletic training from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in 2006. He is a Board Certified Athletic Trainer and a Licensed Athletic Trainer in the states of Iowa and Wisconsin.

During his senior year at UWM, Lucas interned with Froedtert Hospital Sports Medicine Clinic and provided medical coverage for Wisconsin Lutheran College (WLC) football team, WLC's men's & women's basketball team and helped assist the Sports Medicine Clinic staff with rehabilitation services of the Milwaukee Wave (Major Indoor Soccer League) and Milwaukee Brewers.

While at UNI, Lucas has assisted the UNI football team with preseason camp and home games, coordinated & planned medical coverage for the 2007 NWCA/Cliff Keen National Duals and 2007 NCAA West Regional Championship tournaments. Solum also worked as the athletic trainer for the Waterloo Bucks Baseball team in the summer of 2007 and as the athletic trainer for the Union High School (LaPorte, Iowa) tootball team's 2007 fall season.
