2006 NWCA/Cliff Keen National Duals

General Information


Awards & Ceremonies
The national anthem will occur each day prior to competition. Teams who advance to the 3:00 p.m. Championship matches on Sunday will participate in the Championship March in Ceremony. These teams should report to the Tunnel in the NE Corner of the UNI-Dome floor. Following the final placing matches' awards will be given mat side to the top eight teams in Division I, II, III, NAIA and top four teams in NJCAA.

Banners
Any banners other than the approved NWCA and UNI banners may not be posted in or around the facility. Banners advertising equipment of manufacturers are prohibited.

Coaches Meeting
A meeting for all DI, DII, DIII, NAIA participating coaches will be held on Friday, Jan. 12 from 9-9:30 p.m. at the Ramada Inn in downtown, Waterloo. The NJCAA, NCWA and Women will conduct their coaches meeting on Sat., Jan. 13 from 5:30 p.m.-6 p.m. in the Panther Room of the UNI-Dome. Directions are enclosed in the back appendices.

Coaches Social
Coaches/Staff (up to seven members from each institution), Championship administration and NWCA Administration are invited to attend the Championship Social on Friday, Jan. 12 at the Ramada Inn, located in downtown Waterloo, Iowa. The social will be from 9:30-11 p.m. Please return the RSVP from to Brent Knutson by Dec. 27, 2006.

Championship Rules
The Cliff Keen/NWCA National Wrestling Duals shall be conducted according to the NCAA rules as listed in the most recent edition of the official NCAA rule book.

Concessions
The concession stands in the UNI-Dome will be available throughout the competition.


Credentials
Credentials will be distributed to all teams during registrations at the UNI-Dome during designated Divisional registration. Each team will receive fifteen student-athlete credentials and up to seven personnel credentials. All media requests for credentials should be directed to Colin McDonough (colin.mcdonough@uni.edu, 319-273-5456), Associate Director of Athletics Media Relations. Each school will be permitted one video camera on the floor and will be restricted to video taping their own teams dual meets only.

Hospitality
Hospitality areas with snacks and drinks for Coaches and Trainers will be available in the Hall of Fame room located in the Northwest corner of the UNI-Dome throughout the tournament. Student-Athletes will not be permitted in the hospitality areas.

Hotel Reservations
Each hotel listed on the "Hotel Information" page of the Championship Guide has a block of rooms held from Thursday, January 12th through Sunday, January 15th. Each team is responsible for making their own reservations. Please call the respective hotels with questions. As soon as hotel reservations are confirmed or if you have any difficulties with booking hotel rooms, please contact Brent Knutson

Locker Rooms
Locker rooms will be available in the WRC throughout the event. The Locker rooms are located in the lower level of the WRC located directly North of the UNI-Dome.

Match Times
Whenever possible, matches will start at the time listed on the tournament schedule. In no case shall a match start before the scheduled start time listed for that particular match on the championship bracket.

Medical Services
Throughout the NWCA/Cliff Keen National Duals, University of Northern Iowa will provide medical coverage in the UNI-Dome. Certified athletic trainers and student trainers will be staffed in the facility. Athletics Training rooms will be available during all scheduled practices and competitions for taping and treatment. Please note the information for your team's medical staff included with this packet. Please direct all questions or concerns to Don Bishop, Athletics Trainer at (319) 273-6369.


Officials
All officials have been selected and assigned by Pat McCormick & Lynn Dyche, NCAA Director of Officials.

Parking
Spectator parking will be available in several lots on the North, West and South sides of the UNI-Dome. Spectators are asked to use the NE, NW, SE, SW entrances. Bus drop offs will take place in the PEC parking lot located which is on the Northwest side of the UNI-Dome. Teams will enter through the PEC where locker rooms will be available. Buses will then be asked to park in the North Gravel lot, located just on the other side of 22nd street. Parking also will cost $5 per vehicle/day and $15 per bus/day.

Directions to the UNI-Dome from the North
Take Highway 218 South to the Highway 58/First Street exit. Highway 58 turns into First Street. Take First Street to Hudson Road and turn left. The UNI-Dome will be on your right in about one mile

Directions to the UNI-Dome from the South
Take Interstate 380 North to Highway 20. Take Highway 20 west to Hudson Road South and turn right. The UNI-Dome will be on your left after several miles.

Directions to the UNI-Dome from the East
Take Highway 20 West to Hudson Road South and turn right. The UNI-Dome will be on your left after several miles.

Directions for the UNI-Dome from the West
Take Highway 20 East to Hudson Road South and turn left. The UNI-Dome will be on your left after several miles.

Practice and Warm Ups
The UNI-Dome will be available for practice on Fri., Jan. 12 from 8 a.m.-10 p.m.

Programs
Programs will be on sale for $5.00 to the general public inside the UNI-Dome. Five complimentary programs will be provided to each team at registration.

Registration
Registration for teams will occur in the UNI-Dome. Please see schedule for times. Team packets should be picked up at this time. Packets will include credentials, parking passes, programs and updated championship information.

Roster
Please complete the team roster form and return one typed copy to Brent Knutson (319) 273-5966 and FAX one copy to Jeff Bowyer @ (717) 653-8270 by Tuesday, Jan. 2. Entries are limited to 15 per team. It is the responsibility of each competing school to ensure that only eligible student-athletes compete in the Championship. The names on the form are the fifteen wrestlers who will be competing in the Championship. Changes can be made to this form with Brent Knutson until 6:45 AM on Saturday. PLEASE NOTE: We Will Use This Typed Roster to Print Individual Mat Side Name Cards for Wrestler Identification Purposes During Competition.

Team Entrance
The players, coaches and support staff for each team may enter either facility at any entrance with the proper credential throughout the event. Student-athletes, coaches and staff reporting for weigh-ins should enter through the PEC entrance.


Weigh-Ins
Weigh-ins will occur in the upper gyms of the Wellness Center. On the first day of the championship all DI, DII, DIII, NAIA teams will weigh-in two (2) hours prior to the start of competition with the NJCAA, NCWA and Women Weigh-ins scheduled for 5:00 pm Saturday. On subsequent days weight-in will be one (1) hour prior to the start of competition. Scale assignments will be determined based on mat assignments for the first round of the championship and will be identified on the Championship bracket. Scales will be identified by mat number. Teams will be weighed in by weight class as indicated on your submitted team roster beginning with the lowest class and working up to heavy weight. Medical and skin checks for all student-athletes will be conducted from the roster submitted during the final registration period. An on site physician and dermatologist will make the final determination if a student-athlete can participate in the Championship. All on-site decisions by the physician are final. No previous documentation will overrule these decisions. All wrestlers scheduled to compete in the National Duals must weigh-in on the first day of competition even if they are only scheduled to wrestle on the second day. Wrestlers who do not weigh-in on the first day of competition are ineligible to compete on the second day. Fruit, beverages and Hershey's SmartZone bars will be available after a team has weighed in.

Video Taping
University of Northern Iowa and the NWCA will NOT provide videotaping for schools. Each school will be responsible for taping their own matches. Areas will be designated at each mat for taping. All teams should plan to use wireless video equipment. A power supply will not be available on the mats. Spectators will not be permitted to tape at any time. Schools tapping into the AC power supply will have their equipment disconnected. A second occurrence will be cause for loss of video privileges.
