The University of Northern Iowa women's basketball team held Wichita State without a field goal for a span of seven minutes in the second half, outscoring the Shockers 15-3 in that time on the way to a 66-56 win in Koch Arena on Sunday.

The win snaps a three-game losing streak by UNI, and is the 16th straight victory over the Shockers.

Tara King led UNI with 24 points. Jessie Biggs finished with 18, and Sarah Larsen added 10 points, eight rebounds and five assists.

Antionette Wells led Wichita State with 12 points and 16 rebounds. Taylor Steven Kiki Stephens scored 10 points and grabbed eight rebounds for WSU.

Kiki Stephens and Antionette Wells scored on consecutive trips to give the Shockers (7-10, 2-5) an early 4-0 lead. Megan Keefe put the Panthers on the board with a jump shot at 16:13. A basket from Tara King and a three from Traci Ollendieck on UNI's next two possessions gave UNI (10-8, 4-3) its first lead of the game, 7-4 with 15:16 to play in the half.

Ollendieck knocked down her second three of the game at 12:25, giving UNI a 10-6 lead. Wichita State outscored the Panthers 7-3 over the next three minutes, and the Shockers tied the game at 13 with a jump shot from Marcy Sudbeck at 9:13.

A three from Sarah Larsen put UNI back in front, 16-13 with 7:40 on the clock. Lindsey Swanson hit a layup to put the Panthers up by five. On UNI's next trip the Panthers grabbed two offensive boards before Jessie Biggs knocked down a jump shot that gave the Panthers a 20-13 advantage with 6:02 on the clock. That was part of a 14-2 run by UNI that put the Panthers in front, 27-15 with 2:57 to play in the half.

The Shockers were able to trim the Panther lead to seven before a jump shot from King with just one second left on the clock sent UNI into the break with a 32-23 lead.

Wells scored right out of the gate for WSU, but King scored on back-to-back trips to give UNI a double-digit lead, 36-25 with 18:10 to play.

The Panthers led by as many as 13 over the next six minutes, and led 42-31 at 13:39. The Shockers scored seven points in the span of a minute, trimming the Panther lead to four, 42-38, with 12:03 to play.

Larsen made a layup with 11:47 to play to end the Shocker run. Twenty seconds later she hit a layup on a fast break as she was fouled. The free throw extended the Panther lead to nine, 47-38 with 11:28 to play. Biggs hit a pair of free throws at 9:45 to put the Panthers back in front by 10, 49-39.             Biggs connected on a pair of free throws at 2:21 to put UNI back in front by 11. On the next trip by Wichita State, Stephen dove onto the press row tables to save the ball, and Stevens came up with the ball at the top of the key. She connected for three to pull the Shockers within eight, 60-52 at the two-minute mark.

The Panthers would not allow WSU to get any closer, however, as they scored on their next three possessions to seal the 66-56 win.
