Final Stats

Cold shooting by the University of Northern Iowa women's basketball team resulted in a 75-56 loss in Terre Haute, Ind. against Indiana State today. The loss snapped a five game winning streak and dropped UNI to 16-9 overall, 10-4 in the Missouri Valley Conference while Indiana State improved to 17-7, 10-5.

Junior center Cassie Hager led UNI with 11 points to go along with four blocked shots while no other Panther reached double figures. Three players scored 12 points or more for INS, led by Melanie Boeglin who poured in 26. UNI fired a school record 32 three-point attempts but only sunk nine of them (28.1 percent).

The Panthers jumped out to the early 7-0 lead to start the game but the Sycamores stepped up the defensive pressure and played strong at the offensive end. INS held a 10 point advantage (33-23) at the half.

It was much of the same story in the second period with the Sycamores aggressive play carrying them to the victory. INS outscored UNI 40-12 in the paint. The Sycamores fired 51 percent from the field (26-of-51) while the Panthers struggled, hitting only 33.9 percent (19-of-56).

UNI travels back to Cedar Falls for an important two game home-stand next week.  The Panthers host intrastate rival Drake at 7:05 p.m. on Thursday night before taking on Creighton at 4:05 p.m. in the West Gpm"&
