Cold Shooting Dooms Panthers in Loss to No. 1 MarylandDec. 6, 2006
CEDAR FALLS, Iowa - The UNI (2-5) was able to keep the defending national champion within arm's length through much of the first half. After trailing 15-4, UNI scored the next four points to claw within seven, 15-8 with The Panthers' shooting improved to 30 percent (10-of-33) in the second half, but Maryland shot 60 percent (18-of-30) from the floor in that period to lead by as many as 45 in the game and take a 77-33 win. "I think the tough part about this is that we just did not shoot the ball well," UNI head coach Tony DiCecco said. "We did a lot of the little things that we were working on, but we weren't able to make our shots." The Panthers finished shooting 14-of-68 (20.6 percent), setting a school record for lowest field goal percentage in a game.
