CEDAR FALLS, Iowa -

Members of the University of Northern Iowa women's basketball team volunteered with the Northeast Iowa Food Bank on Wednesday, July 1 as part of a series of service projects the team is doing in the Cedar Valley.

The women's basketball team packed sack lunches to be sold as part of a fundraiser for the Northeast Iowa Food Bank.

"The basketball team made quick work of packing nearly 900 sack lunches for this event," said Patrick Bird, volunteer coordinator for the Northeast Iowa Food Bank. It's great to see such enthusiasm and teamwork from these young women."

"I love being able to give back to the community, and we want them to know that their support is greatly appreciated," said UNI senior Nicole Clausen.

The Panthers have previously worked with House of Hope and will also volunteer at Habitat for Humanity later this month.
