Panther Women Tied For 18th Following Day One of the UALR Women's Golf Classic

HOT SPRINGS VILLAGE, Ark. - The University of Northern Iowa women's golf team is tied for 18th following the first two rounds of the University of Arkansas-Little Rock Women's Golf Classic. The Panthers played 36 holes on the Diamante Country Club on a course that measures 6,163 yards and a par-72. The Panthers improved three slots from round one to two. UNI was in 21st place following the morning 18 holes, but rebounded with a 332 score in the afternoon 18 to tie Western Michigan for 18th in the tournament. A big factor in the Panthers jumping to 18th place was the play of Heather Frye in the second round. Frye shot an opening round 84, but came back strong with a 79 in the second round. Frye is the Panthers' top golfer after day one and she is tied for 52nd overall with 163 strokes. Blair Bonner shot an opening round 80 and came back in the afternoon with an 86. Bonner is tied for 71st with 166 strokes. Ann Arnason opened up with an 82 and fired an 86 in the second round. Kim Weber shaved nine strokes off her score in the second round with an 81 for a two-round total of 171. The final round is scheduled to take place Tuesday morning.
