PANORA, Iowa - The University of Northern Iowa's women's golf team is in fourth place following the second round of the 2009 State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Women's Golf Championship being held at Lake Panorama National Resort.
The Panthers were led by the trio of Blair Bonner, Ann Arnason and Kim Weber in the second round. Bonner fired a second-round 78 and is tied for sixth place in the tournament. Weber and Arnason each carded 75 on Saturday to maintain top 15 spots in the tournament. Weber is tied for eighth with 152 strokes, while Arnason is tied or 12th with 153 strokes.
Arnason and Heather Frye tied for the team-high on Saturday with a pair of birdies. Arnason scored her birdies on the par-4 6th and the par-5 10th. Frye tallied her birdies on the par-5 2nd and par-4 11th.
The Panthers shot a second-round 309 as a team. Bonner's birdie on the par-4 18th hole pushed the Panthers ahead of Missouri State by one stroke in the team standings. UNI has taken 615 strokes through two days of the tournament.
Drake's Olivia Lansing is the tournament leader following the second round at even par. Lansing shot a tournament-best 3-under par 69 on Saturday.
The third and final round of the tournament will begin at 8 a.m. Sunday.
