UNI Women's Golf Takes Tenth at Hawkeye InvitationalOct. 18, 2009
The University of Northern Iowa women’s golf team finished tenth at the Hawkeye Invitational in Iowa City on Sunday. The two-day competition was suspended due to darkness on Saturday evening and play was completed on Sunday afternoon. UNI posted a 319-326-320--965 to wind up in tenth place. The Panthers moved up two spots from twelfth place over the course of the final round.
Missouri State captured the team title with a score of 298-320-296--914. Stacey Miller of Illinois State took the individual championship with a 77-73-74--224 card to win by two strokes.
Katie Tabbert led UNI with a 19th place finish in the individual standings. Tabbert shot 78-80-78--236 to finish at 20-over par. Blair Bonner posted a 77-84-77 card to finish in 30th place at 22-over par. Ann Arnason recorded an 81-80-79--240 for a 36th place finish.
Brittany Atterbury (251), Emily Monroe (259) and Abby Bermel (268) rounded out the UNI competitors. Monroe competed as an individual for the tournament.
The Hawkeye Invitational was the last scheduled event of the fall season for the UNI women.
