Complete Release in PDF Format Mar. 15-16 – Jackrabbit Invitational Primm, Nev. – Primm Valley Golf Club Lakes Course - Par 72 - 6,022 yards
The University of Northern Iowa women’s golf team will open its 2010 season at the Jackrabbit Invitational in Primm, Nev. The event is hosted by South Dakota State University and will take place on the par 72 Lakes Course at Primm Valley Golf Club.
ON THE TEE BOX
• UNI will be one of 16 teams competing at the Jackrabbit Invitational. Along with host South Dakota State, the event will include Centenary, Cleveland State, Drake, Gonzaga, Iowa, Kennesaw State, Missouri State, North Dakota State, Oakland, Oral Roberts, South Dakota, Southern Utah, UMKC and Wyoming.
• Sophomore Katie Tabbert led UNI in the fall season despite a hand injury limiting her to two events. She averaged 78.2 strokes per round over five rounds to lead the Panthers in stroke average.
• Sophomore Blair Bonner posted more rounds in the 70s than any other Panther golfer in the fall season. Nine of her 14 rounds were sub-80.
• Bonner finished in the top fifteen as an individual twice, taking 13th at the Lady Red Wolf Classic and 14th at the MSU/Payne Stewart Memorial.
• Senior Ann Arnason and Bonner are the only returnees from last year’s UNI squad that took fourth place at the MVC Championships. The Panthers are looking to improve on that performance as they prepare for this season’s event at Rolling Hills Country Club in Newburgh, Ind.
• UNI received quality contributions from two transfers in the fall. Sophomore Brittany Atterbury (Iowa State) played all 14 rounds, averaging 80.4 strokes per round and tying for the low round of the season with a 74 in the final round of the Marilynn Smith/Sunflower Invitational. Katie Tabbert was also a transfer addition from UW-Green Bay.
