Peoria, Ill.-The University of Northern Iowa women's golf team has been picked to finish fifth at the 2007 State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Championship in a poll of league coaches.  UNI received 63 points in the voting.  Southern Illinois was tabbed to win the tournament with 95 points and five first-place votes.

The championship is April 15-17 in Peoria, Ill., at the par 72 WeaverRidge Golf Club.  The tournament is a three-day event and 54 holes will be played to determine the champion.  Tee times will begin at 7:30 a.m. each day.

Missouri State also received five first place votes, but tallied 88 points.  Illinois State is tabbed for a third-place with 80 points, while the defending champion Bradley Braves are picked fourth, with 68 points.  Wichita State received 56 points to put them in sixth, followed by Indiana State with 36, Creighton with 25, Drake with 21 and Evansville with 19.

Notably, this marks the first season in which all 10 members sponsor women's golf, as Drake and Indiana State started programs at the start of the 2006-07 season.
