UNI Women's Golf Signs Two to National Letters-of-Intent
Nov. 13, 2009
University of Northern Iowa head men’s and women’s golf coach John Bermel announced Thursday the signings of two student-athletes to compete for the UNI women’s golf team in 2010-11. Jocilyn Onnen of Grundy Center, Iowa, and Amanda Braun of Brookfield, Wis., have signed national letters-of-intent to golf for the Panthers starting in 2010.
Onnen is a three-time qualifier for the Iowa state golf tournament, finishing as the runner-up medalist all three times. In 2009, she lost in a playoff to finish as the runner-up for the third consecutive year. Competing for Grundy Center HS, Onnen has been all-conference all three years, finishing second in 2007 and 2009 and winning the North Iowa Cedar League conference championship in 2008.
Onnen has led the Spartans to the NICL conference team championship each year from 2007 to 2009. She also led Grundy Center to the team state championship in 2007 and 2008 in her freshman and sophomore seasons. Onnen is the daughter of Bob and Nicole Onnen.
Braun competes for Pius XI High School in Milwaukee, Wis., where she was first team all-conference in the Classic 8 Conference in 2008 and 2009. She was an individual state tournament qualifier in 2008 and participated in the state tournament with her team in 2009.
Braun is the daughter of Dennis and Eda Braun.
