FARGO, N.D. - The University of Northern Iowa women's soccer team fell 2-1 against North Dakota State, Sunday. The Panthers outshot the Bison 18-12, but couldn't escape an early 2-0 deficit.

A pair of goals by NDSU forward Ashley Dement in the first 20 minutes of the contest put UNI in a 2-0 hole early. Senior Jenna O'Hara (London, Ontario/A.B. Lucas) sprung Chelsie Hochstedler (Marion, Iowa/Linn Mar) with a well-placed pass to give the freshman an open look at the goal. Hochstedler connected on her second goal of the season in the 36th minute to cut the Bison lead in half, but a scoreless second half gave NDSU a 2-1 victory.

Hochstedler took four shots on the night, including three on-goal. Fellow freshman Ericka O'Meara (Rochester, Minn./Rochester) tallied four total shots and three on-goal as well. Laura Wagner (Cedar Rapids, Iowa/Jefferson) paced the Panthers with five total shots, including three on-goal. Heidi O'Mara (Stillwater, Minn./Stillwater Area) played all 90 minutes in-goal and tallied two saves.

The Panthers fall to 0-1-1 on the season. North Dakota State improves to 2-0.

UNI returns to Iowa to face rival Iowa State Friday, Sept. 7. Game time is at 7 p.m
