Final Stats

AMES, Iowa-- Chelsie Hochstedler's third goal in as many games couldn't propel the University of Norther Iowa women's soccer team to victory. The Panthers fell 4-1 to Iowa State after the Cyclones put through three goals in the final eight minutes of the contest.

Hochstedler (Marion, Iowa/Linn Mar) scored on a penalty kick in the 22nd minute to give UNI a 1-0 lead. The Cyclones tied the game in the 31st minute to send the game into intermission with the score knotted at 1-1. ISU scored goals in the 83rd, 88th and 89th minutes to take a 4-1 win over UNI.

Hochstedler scored her third goal in as many games, a UNI record. The freshman took three of UNI's five shots with Laura Wagner (Cedar Rapids, Iowa/Jefferson) and Amy Seubert (Minnetonka, Minn./Minnetonka) adding one each. The Panthers were outshot 17-5 in the loss.

"Our team came out firing and our players played every minute looking for the win," head coach Kathy Kakoyianni-Bering said. "Overall it was a great effort tonight."

The Panthers fall to 0-2-1 on the season. Iowa State improves to 2-0 overall.

UNI hosts Wisconsin-Green Bay in Waverly, Iowa for the Kickin' Cancer Game Sunday. Game time is at noon.
