Box Score

WAVERLY, Iowa--The University of Northern Iowa women's soccer team topped Wisconsin-Green Bay 1-0 at Sunday's Kickin' Cancer game in Waverly Iowa. Colleen Gallagher scored her first goal of the season in the 86th minute to give UNI a 1-0 victory.

Both teams had plenty of chances to score early in the game, but solid goalkeeping by UWGB's Brooke Wikgren and UNI's Heidi O'Mara (Stillwater, Minn./Stillwater Area) kept the offenses at bay. O'Mara played all 90 minutes in-goal, earning the shutout and stopping a season-high nine shots.

Gallagher (Dyersville, Iowa/Dyersville-Beckman) broke through the Phoenix defense after Meghan Schoeberl (Apple Valley, Minn./Eastview) found a passing lane. Gallagher scored in the 86th minute, breaking a game-long tie and sending the Panthers to victory four minutes later.

The Panthers outshot UWGB 13-11 with Laura Wagner (Cedar Rapids, Iowa/Jefferson) leading the way with three. Gallagher, Ericka O'Meara (Rochester, Minn./Rochester) and Jana Teague (Blue Springs, Mo./Blue Springs) all took two shots.

The Panthers improve to 1-2-1 on the season. The Phoenix fall to 0-3 overall.

UNI takes on IUPUI Sept. 14 at 7 pm.
