PANTHERS FALL 3-2 TO IOWA STATE

Omaha, Neb. - The University of Northern Iowa women's soccer team dropped a 3-2 decision to Iowa State in the final game of the Diadora Classic, Sunday. The Panthers led 2-0 at one point, but three unanswered goals by the Cyclones handed UNI the loss.

The Panthers took a 1-0 lead in the 13th minute when Lindsey Daugherty (Loveland, Colo./Thompson Valley) struck net with a sliding five-yarder after being sprung by a Jana Teague (Blue Springs, Mo./Blue Springs) assist.

UNI earned a 2-0 advantage in the 23rd minute when Iowa State kicked the ball into its own goal. The Cyclones recovered with a penalty kick goal in the 42nd minute to cut the Panther lead to one at the break.

Another ISU penalty kick knotted the score at two in the 55th minute, but an unassisted 22-yarder off the foot of Stephanie Kaphingst in the 69th minute gave the Cyclones a 3-2 win.

The loss moves UNI's record to 0-6-0 on the season.

The Panthers meet Wisconsin-Green Bay on Sept. 15 in a 7 p.m. matchup.

Notes: * Daugherty's goal was her second of the season and sixth of her career.

* The Panthers recorded 10 or more shots for the second game in a row and third game of the season. UNI's other 10-plus-shot games came at Western Michigan and at Western Illinois.
