VALPARAISO, Ind. -- The University of Northern Iowa women's soccer team fell 1-0 to Valparaiso in a defensive struggle, Sunday. The Crusaders scored in the second minute of overtime to take the 1-0 victory over UNI.

The Panthers and Crusaders played a scoreless 90 minutes to force the game into overtime. Valparaiso scored on a header from a corner kick to end the game.

Seven Panthers took one shot each with Jana Teague (Blue Springs, Mo./Blue Springs), Ericka O'Meara (Rochester, Minn./Rochester), Amy Seubert (Minnetonka, Minn./Minnetonka), Meghan Schoeberl (Apple Valley, Minn./Eastview), Tiffany Wendel (Johnston, Iowa/Johnston), Chelsie Hochstedler (Marion, Iowa/Linn Mar) and Laura Wagner (Cedar Rapids, Iowa/Jefferson) contributing.

Goalkeeper Heidi O'Mara (Stillwater, Minn./Stillwater Area) played well in just over 90 minutes in-goal. The senior stopped two shots on the day.

The Panthers fall to 2-3-1 on the season. Valparaiso improves to 5-2 overall.

UNI takes on Iowa, Tuesday, Sept. 18 in Iowa City. Game time is at 7 p.m.
