POCATELLO, Idaho--The University of Northern Iowa women's soccer team topped Air Force 1-0 in its first match of the Idaho State Tournament. Chelsie Hochstedler scored her Missouri Valley Conference leading sixth goal of the season in the win.

 

Heidi O'Mara (Stillwater, Minn./Stillwater Area) was brilliant in-goal. The senior stopped three shots and held the Air Force offense scoreless through two periods and seven minutes of overtime.

 

Hochstedler (Marion, Iowa/Linn Mar) put through her sixth goal of the season in the seventh minute of overtime. The freshman scored on her second shot of the afternoon and was the only Panther to take more than one shot. UNI tallied seven shots to Air Force's 16, but made the decisive goal to clinch victory.

 


 

 

The win puts UNI at 3-4-1 on the season. Air Force falls to 1-4-2 on the season.

 

The Panthers meet San Jose State in the final day of the Idaho State Tournament, Sunday. Game time is at noon.
