UNI Loses Conference OpenerOct. 1, 2004 The UNI women's soccer team fell to the University of Evansville in its conference opener at Evansville, Indiana, 5-3 tonight. The Panthers trailed by three before they were able to get on the scoreboard when Shanon Dechant scored her second goal of the season with 11 minutes remaining in the first half off an assist from Jillian Carroll.
In the second half UNI outscored Evansville 2-1. Jenna O'Hara scored her first goal of the season and Dechant tallied yet another goal to make the final score 5-3.
UNI drops to 0-8-2 on the season while Evansville improves to 2-7-0. The Panthers will be in action when they travel to Terre Haute to take on Indiana State Sunday for a 1:00 p.m. game.
