Panthers Pick up First Win of SeasonOct. 3, 2004 The UNI women's soccer team picked up their first win of the season, 1-0 today at Terre Haute, Indiana against MVC foe Indiana State.
The Panthers were outshot 19-4, but they made good on their opportunity in the 78th minute of the game. Freshman Amy Seubert (Minnetonka, Minn.) fired her only shot of the day from 30 yards out placing it in the upper left corner of the goal beyond the reach of ISU goalkeeper Rachel Rudzis.
Brooke Orcutt, Shanon Dechant and Jenna O'Hara each had one shot on the day for UNI. Freshman Krista Thorley (Ontario Canada) had a flawless performance in the net going the full 90-minutes and collecting nine saves.
UNI improves to 1-8-2 on the season and is even at 1-1 in the MVC. Indiana State drops to 5-6-0 and is 1-1 in the MVC. The Panthers host two conference opponents next weekend at the Cedar Valley Soccer Complex. The Homecoming festivities get kicked off at 6:00p.m. against Drury on Friday and conclude at 1:00p.m. on Sunday against Southwest Missouri State.
