CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – The University of Northern Iowa women’s soccer team fell 1-0 in Missouri Valley Conference action Sunday afternoon in Normal, Ill. Freshman goalkeeper Lauren Potzman registered 11 saves in the contest.

 

The Redbird defense stifled the Panther offensive attack as UNI was unable to register a shot in the game. Illinois State had plenty of attempts at the net, taking 22 shots, with 12 being in the second half.

 

While the Redbirds allowed little offensive output for the Panthers, Potzman and the UNI defense held their ground at the net until the 80th minute when Danielle Mutters scored on a header off a corner kick by Mel Routledge.

 

UNI (3-13-1, 0-3 MVC) returns to the road Oct. 18 when the travel to Evansville. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
