Box Score

The UNI women's soccer team fell to the Creighton Bluejays, 4-0 tonight in Omaha, Neb. The Bluejays fired a season-high 45 shots to the Panther's five.

It was a close first half with both defenses controlling the tempo. Creighton attempted 25 shots but freshman keeper Krista Thorley (Ontario, Canada) and the Panther defense kept the Jays off the scoreboard.

The first goal of the game was scored by Ivonne Valentin in the 56th minute off an assist from Chelsea Mackenzie who placed the corner kick on the right side of the box. Two minutes later Katie Brennan had a one-on-one opportunity with Thorley and put the ball in the net for her first goal of the season. Creighton scored two more goals to make the final score 4-0.

Thorley had a busy night in goal with Creighton attempting 45 shots, 20 on goal. Thorley collected 15 saves in the losing effort.

The Panthers travel to Des Moines, Iowa to take on Drake, Sunday at 2:30p.m. UNI will be back at home its final conference game on Oct. 21st when Illinois State comes to town for a 4:00p.m. match.
