It was a close first half with both defenses controlling the tempo. Drake attempted 10 shots but freshman keeper Krista Thorley (Ontario, Canada) and the Panther defense allowed only one goal.

In the second half Andrea Schmitz scored her eighth goal of the year when she took a cross from James and shot it over the Panther defense at the 54:56 mark. Drake tallied one more goal in the 73rd minute when Sinead Brown followed in a shot taken by Van Dike.

Thorley had a busy day in goal with Drake attempting 25 shots, 13 on goal. Thorley collected 10 saves in the losing effort.

The Panthers drop to 2-11-2 overall and 2-4 in the Missouri Valley Conference. With the win, Drake earned the regular season championship outright with a 6-0 league record.
