Box Score

WATERLOO, Iowa-- Sophomore Laura Wagner scored her first and second goals of the season to help the University of Northern Iowa women's soccer team drop Indiana State 3-0 for its first Missouri Valley Conference win of the season.

Wagner (Cedar Rapids, Iowa/Jefferson) scored her first goal in just the second minute of the game, tallying the earliest Panther goal of the season in the process. Ericka O'Mara (Rochester, Minn./Rochester) followed with a goal of her own in the 41st minute, giving the Panthers a 2-0 advantage at intermission. Both goals were their respective scorer's first as a Panther.

UNI held the 2-0 lead until Wagner put through her second goal of the game 17 minutes into the second half. The sophomore's second goal gave UNI a 3-0 lead.

Goalkeeper Heidi O'Mara (Stillwater, Minn./Stillwater Area) took over from there. The senior closed the door on her fourth shutout of the season to give UNI a 3-0 victory.

The Panthers were outshot by Indiana State 11-10, but Wagner and O'Meara's offense, along with O'Mara's goalkeeper provided the difference for UNI.

UNI improves to 5-8-2 on the season and 1-3-1 in the MVC. Indiana State falls to 5-11-0 on the season and 0-4-0 in the Valley.

UNI meets Creighton in Omaha, Neb. Sunday, Oct. 28. Game time is at 1 p.m.
