Cedar Falls, Iowa -

The University of Northern Iowa women's soccer team lost to the Illinois State Redbirds, 4-0, at the Cedar Valley Soccer Complex this afternoon.  Seven seniors were honored before the game: Raven Blackwell, Brooke Orcutt, Shanon Dechant, Michelle Young, Sarah Huffer, Kaitlin Stimpson and Jillian Carroll.

 

The Panthers tallied 13 shots and were led by sophomore Amy Seubert, who had three.  Midfielder Dechant had two shots on goal.  Dechant ends her career holding many UNI records, including most career shots (157), most career goals (20) and most game-winning goals (7).

 

Sophomore Heidi O'Mara spent 90 minutes in goal and tallied five saves. 


 

 

 

Four Redbirds tallied a goal with Bethany Russ taking in an assist from Melissa Routledge in the 12th minute for a 1-0 lead.  Routledge grabbed her own goal, second of the first half, at the 28:35 minute mark.  Illinois State tallied two more goals in the second period, including an unassisted corner kick by Amanda Lauber.

 

UNI finishes the season with a 1-16-0 mark, 0-6 in the MVC.
