WATERLOO, IowaGretchen Orcutt and Chelsie Hochstedler led the way for the University of Northern Iowa offense as both scored goals in the Panther’s 4-2 loss to Creighton Thursday afternoon. Orcutt registered her first goal of the season, while Hochstedler scored her eighth.

 

Creighton struck first, scoring at the 4:33 minute-mark when Lindsay Vaught scored off a pass from Mary Zapapas. UNI responded in the 21st minute when Orcutt scored off a corner kick. Hochstedler gave the Panthers a 2-1 lead when she scored off a rebounded shot by Orcutt.

 

Creighton knotted the score at 2-2 heading into the break when Claire Zach scored on a header off a corner kick by Grace Kwon.


 

 

 

The Bluejays took command in the second half, scoring two goals to take the eventual 4-2 win. Vaught scored her second goal of the afternoon in the 62nd minute off a corner kick by Zapapas and Marcy Gans sealed the win with a goal off a penalty kick.

 

Freshman goalkeeper Lauren Potzman registered 13 saves in the game for the Panthers.

 

UNI finished the season 3-15-1 and 0-6 in Missouri Valley Conference play.
